We have been wanting to visit for a long time now, and so glad we finally did. The huge cafe has a good vibe and plenty of happy diners. Their menu has so many excellent options, it was very hard to choose. We tried the steak and eggs with salsa verde and it was superb!! Cooked medium rare with runny eggs, it’s an excellent protein hit. Also we shared their double fish burger - can’t get any better - crispy battered fish, melted cheese, salmon egg tartare sauce and seasoned fries!! The food is so so good - add this one to your food hit list! The poached chicken sandwich on sourdough was so fresh and massive too. We also enjoyed a juice and cold brew. Service was very fast so we are very impressed!

Really enjoyed the food at End of King in Newtown! The double fish burger was generously stacked with crispy barramundi, creamy salmon egg tartare, melted cheese and tangy pickled onion in a soft potato bun.
The chips topped with sambal mayo, cheese and nori were a highlight, but my favourite was the scallop pasta. The miso bisque sauce was silky and full of flavour, with shimeji mushrooms and plump, sweet, juicy scallops. Easily up there with their famous crab pasta!
We finished with a huge pancake. It was firmer and more cake-like than fluffy, and quite sweet, so a good choice if you have a serious sweet tooth. Definitely keen to return for the scallop pasta!

Very disappointing and concerning experience at End of King in Newtown.
I ordered the barramundi fish burger and, while eating it, found two separate sharp fish bones in the fish. I have photos of both bones. Given this was served as a burger and eaten by biting directly into it, I was concerned about the potential choking or mouth/throat injury risk. I also did not see any warning on the menu indicating that the fish burger may contain bones.
What disappointed me even more was how the issue was handled. When I raised the two bones with the owner (middle age Asian female), I was told that this was normal because they receive the fish from their supplier and that I needed to take precautions when eating it. I did not receive an apology and was not offered a replacement burger or a refund.
There was also a separate safety concern during the same visit. I encountered what appeared to be a tiny piece of glass on the dining table, which pricked/hurt my finger when I came into contact with it. Fortunately, it did not cause bleeding. I did not take a photo of this fragment at the time.
Finding two sharp bones in a fish burger, encountering an apparent glass fragment on the table, and then receiving this response when I raised the issue left me very concerned about my experience.
Given the combination of these incidents, I intend to lodge a formal food-safety complaint with the City of Sydney for the relevant environmental health officers to assess.
It is our first time trying this place and the experience is rather upset and disappointing. I’m posting this review to accurately document my experience and so that other customers are aware.

Had such a great experience at The End of King trying their truffle menu!
The Wagyu steak sandwich was a standout — fluffy yet crispy bread, tender Wagyu, melted cheese and roasted capsicum all coming together perfectly.
The scallop pasta was AMAZING and definitely a must-order. The miso paste was such a great addition, adding the perfect savoury depth to the dish without overpowering the scallops.
Sweet tooth fix, we tried the truffle pancake, which was thick, fluffy and drenched in caramel sauce, with truffle on top for that extra indulgent touch.
And if you’re a cheesecake lover, the Baked cheesecake is for you — super creamy and delicious!
The space is open and spacious with plenty of seating, and the staff were really friendly and welcoming. Definitely a great spot to check out, especially if you want to try something a little different with their truffle menu!

Mostly positive experience. The double fish burger had great flavour but the bun went soggy fast from the amount of sauce, would love it with a bit less next time. Breakfast steak was a touch overcooked but still tasty, though the portion felt small, eggs on the other hand were cooked perfectly. The Bravacado (their new avocado toast) had a generous portion, but the large tomato pieces overpowered the avocado, so the actual avocado flavour got a bit lost. Service was good. Room to tighten a few things but worth trying.

Amazing brunch spread at End of King! Highly recommend the steak, and drink specials were fantastic!
Fun fact: this cafe is owned by the same owner as Caraway in Burwood, so you know the food is going to be good

End of King is literally at the end of King St, closer towards St Peter's and Sydney park / one playground.
I've seen this place all over my feed! The fish burger is a huge portion and the miso pasta here definitely has a stronger umame flavour profile.
Cool drinks incl pandan matcha (think pandan float).

If you wish more of your customers to pay cash. You can discount 5% for the whole bill. Is not mean you have right to pushing them to pay cash when they do their payment. This is fair for your business and customer.

We got the fish burger but omg please dont sleep on the scallop pasta. The bisque alone deserves to be put in a fine-dining restaurant. We’ve already made plans to come back and try the hotcakes!

Genuinely one of the best café meals I’ve had in a while! It was so refreshing to see such a unique menu with carefully curated dishes that you don’t usually come across at cafés.
We ordered the crispy chicken bowl and every single aspect of it was to die for. The protein portion was INSANE, genuinely hard to believe how generous it was! The fish burger was really good too, and we loved every single drink we ordered (matcha, juice & coffee)
Such a refreshing spot with amazing food, generous portions and a really thoughtful menu. Thank you! Will be back for sure 🤍

We visited End Of King on a Sunday afternoon. It was still packed after 2pm - which is a good sign that a cafe is popular. We were seated quickly and orders taken promptly. Our coffee and matcha latte were well made. Juices were fresh. The crab pasta was delicious with crab cakes and a tom yum sauce. The pancake was huge and was lovely. The fries topped things off with crispy goodness. End Of King is a great cafe with excellent food and drinks. See you next weekend!

Saturday cafe exploration. 8/8/26
End-of-King in Newtown. We were lucky that there was not a queue when we arrived. Soon after we sat down, a long queue started to form. There were quite a few of things we wanted to try, we decided to have “Double Fish Burger” and “Prawn Pasta”. The food was served in around 10 minutes. They were both great. We will come back for other items later. They have a 7% weekend surcharge.

Absolutely terrible experience.
My friend and I visited End of King at 12:30 pm on July 25. We ordered two pasta dishes and one latte. I understand restaurants get busy, but making customers wait 40 minutes is already unacceptable.
What made it even worse was watching two customers who arrived after us get seated, order, and receive their milkshakes and pasta in about 7 minutes, while we were still sitting there waiting. So what’s the excuse? If you’re busy, why are people who came later being served first?
Don’t tell me this is because of the lunch rush. Being busy doesn’t explain completely ignoring customers who ordered before others. It just shows how disorganized your service is.
The experience was awful. It honestly feels like this place survives because Chinese customers keep promoting it on Xiaohongshu (RED). Maybe spend less time enjoying the free publicity and more time fixing your service.
Good food means nothing when the customer experience is this bad. I won’t be coming back, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

We were really looking forward to trying End of King after hearing so many positive things. While we enjoyed parts of the experience, it didn’t quite live up to the expectations we had.
I ordered the double fish burger. The tartare sauce was a little too mayonnaise-heavy for my taste and could have benefited from a bit more tang or acidity to complement the fish. The fish itself was nicely cooked but felt fairly average overall.
My partner ordered the shakshuka, which had lovely flavours and was well seasoned, although the sauce was a little runnier than we would have preferred.
The only other aspect that fell a little short was the coffee. Being on King Street, we were hoping for a more boutique, specialty blend, but it wasn’t quite to our liking.
Overall, it was a pleasant meal with some good elements, but it didn’t quite match the high expectations we had going in.

Very spacious, food came out and was delicious. Table service could have been improved - the fish burger was great but couldn’t fit in my mouth so ended up eating it deconstructed. The menu has a Korean flair to it, and the prices were a bit overs - the fish burger was $28 for reference. Drinks were ok - campos coffee and the ube latte seems more dilute than I would have expected. All in all an enjoyable experience with the family.

came for the fish burger but was utterly disappointed. you could taste the un-fresh, strong fishy taste of the barramundi fillet that could only come from a long frozen time, not even the mountain of tartare sauce could cover. i have barramundis regularly so this was really the worst piece of fish I’ve had. spoke to the waiter to give the feedback and it was crickets from the owner/chef. i hope it was just a bad batch, but the way they handled it was also a pretty bad reflection. the basque cheese cake was good but would never come back.
to respond to the response from owner, i clearly said in my original review that I spoke to the waiter but she just said she will let the chef know but nothing was said in response at the time. the food were not finished. please do not twist facts. like i said, you might have received a bad batch but the fish did not taste fresh to me.
your service was great in normal circumstances but none of the stuff or chef responded to my feedback on the burger.
response x 2, sounds like you do remember the order which means the waiter did tell you about my feedback and you ignored. the fish burger contained a chunk of fish cut in 2, i ate half of them trying to figure out if it was an issue with one or 2 bite but soon realized it was definitely the fish’s issue. the other half of the fish was untouched with half of the bun also untouched. it was definitely not only the skin left. when you do know about the issue and choose to ignore to even speak to me about it is exactly why this review is being posted. I actually specifically told the waiter i did not want any compensation but to pass on the feedback and we paid full price for the items ordered. There's a chance words might have been lost between a 3rd party (waiter) but i find the twisting of facts a bit uneasy. have a great day.
respond again, lies after lies plate was not empty. and i did not want anything but to post an honest review of my experience of your food and service at your cafe. and you are showing a very poor version of it online as well. well done; just because you sneak in an edit does not mean i won’t check. thank you for responding and the uselessness that came with it.

Such a good post Pilates brunch spot at the end of King ✨
Finally tried the double fish burger and honestly… I get the hype now. Super crispy on the outside, soft inside, and not too heavy either 🍔😮💨
We also had the tropical bowl and crab pasta which balanced everything out perfectly 🥗🦀🍝
Definitely one of those meals where every dish hit

One of the best cafes in Newtown. The double fish burger and the pulled pork Bennie were our highlights! The taro iced latte had a strong taro flavour and not diluted from the ice. The basque cheese cake had a rather soft texture in the middle but worth trying!

We ordered two Double Fish Burgers, and although the staff were very busy and accidentally forgot our order, their service was excellent. When I asked to cancel, they sincerely apologized and even kindly gave us the two burgers for free to take away.
The staff were friendly, professional, and genuinely caring. The food was also really delicious and high quality. I really appreciate their attitude and service. I will definitely come back again!

Sometimes you need to head to the very end of the strip to find the real gems. I dropped into End of King in Newtown for a weekend recovery session, and the spread was exactly what the morning called for.
The Verdict: The King Brikkie was a standout - with delicious marinated meatballs. But the real star? The Pandan Cold Brew. It’s floral, nutty, and has that subtle sweetness that cuts through a heavy brunch perfectly. It’s a total must-try if you're looking for an Asian fusion flavour!
What we smashed:
👑 The King Brikkie – A massive, honest plate that actually lives up to the name. The meatballs were perfectly marinated and accompanied by a perfect side of potato pavé. The cavolo nero was absolutely delicious mixed in with some pickled vegetables for that extra savoury kick!
🍔 Fish Burger – Great crunch and well-balanced. The tartare was absolutely refreshing!
🍃 Pandan Cold Brew – Aromatic, smooth, and surprisingly refreshing.

Came here to try their viral fish burger and it did not disappoint! So so yum. Their house made hasbrowns was ok, probably could've skipped it. Service was good although they gave me the wrong coffee order but it turned out to be a great mistake! Ended up with their pandan cold brew which was delicious! Enjoyed the vibe inside the restaurant too. Will definitely come back to try other things.

A lovely place to be in with a great atmosphere, good vibes, and a very welcoming crew. The spacious dining area features soft downlights that complement the warm ambience. I tried their tuna sandwich and coffee—both didn’t disappoint. The sandwich was huge with generous fillings, and the tuna flavour wasn’t overpowered by the other elements. I can’t wait to go back and try their other offerings

This is a hidden gem at the end of King Street.
We came here for lunch and the highlight was definitely the Scallop Pasta.
The flavours were amazing—rich, savoury, and fresh. It’s hard to find a pasta dish done this well at a cafe.
Authentic food, good portions, and a great spot if you want to escape the busier parts of Newtown.

Ordered scallop pasta and duck udon.
Scallop pasta - very bad. Scallops have fishy taste and are chewy. Not seared at all.
Duck Udon - individual flavours are fine and well done but they don’t really match each other. Bamboo and raw cucumber don’t go with creamy udon and sweet roasted duck.

we complained about the gooey fry chicken and said was very different from last time. Asked whether chef was changed. the staff just said maybe it’s the new menu , I will let the chef know … no words or solutions made us leaving happily.

food is good looking but the fried chicken was so bad. the coating was hard not crunchy, there was mushy stuff in it very gooey. curry flavor was totally different than last time. feels alot cheaper. the pasta was nice but bit sweet

This restaurant is definitely worth a review! The asparagus and grilled peach appetizers were generously sauced. Delicious!
Two main courses: The crab pasta was incredibly fresh, with plenty of real crab meat. The base, whether it was red oil or crab oil, was incredibly fragrant.
The wagyu eye rib, also highly recommended, was medium-rare. I can't remember the last time I'd had such a satisfying steak; the meat was tender but not raw. (I have to complain about SIX at The Rocks 😂; I ordered medium-rare steak twice, and my cheeks ached from chewing each time.)
The only downside is that the restaurant is so popular that the staff can be a bit distracted, but it's not a big deal.

Had a lovely meal at The End of King in Newtown. The prawn pasta had a nice kick and the prawns were super fresh and bouncy—right up my alley. 🦐 Prawn Pasta – $26
Generous portion with a large slice of soft bread on the side, which surprisingly pairs well with the pasta. The noodles are nicely al dente, and there’s even chili sauce provided 🌶️—a great touch! The prawns are fresh and quite big.
🥖 King Brekkie – $29
A signature dish and seemingly a must-order—almost every table had it. The portion is massive, perfect for sharing. The hash browns and beef meatballs are super tasty. It also comes with two styles of bacon; the crispy one is better, though slightly salty.
☕️ Flat White (Large) – $5.5
Made with Campos beans, so you can’t really go wrong. Smooth and satisfying.
💰 Cost per person: $30–35
Great value for money considering the generous portions.
🚶♀️ Location Tip
Perfect starting point for a Newtown city walk! From here, you can stroll toward the train station or the famous watermelon cake café. Lots of vintage shops and photogenic spots along the way—highly recommended for a day out 📷.

I love End of King; it’s always a great experience. I particularly love the matcha and coffee here.
I recommend the pork belly eggs bene to try, but it’s very rich so best to split with someone or swap out the brioche for sourdough. The cut of meat is good and flavoured with a delicious marinade. Love adding chilli oil too - so yum and the perfect amount of spice!
Also pictured is the mushrooms on toast.

My go to cafe restaurant in the area.
Very attentive helpful and responsive staff, absolutely incredible meals and a dizzying array of drinks and coffees.
Plenty of space, even when it's busy there's normally no wait for a table.
Patrons are standard Newtown fair, friendly, eclectic and polite. You won't feel uncomfortable here.
Try the Eggs Benedict and one of the juices - you can thank me later.

We had a table for two by the window which was a great place for people watching and enjoying our coffee before the food came.
